Bridge to Hope Support Group
Drug and alcohol addiction and its accompanying tragedies have touched countless Americans from all walks of life and from all backgrounds. The Bridge to Hope provides free education and support to such affected families. Anonymity respected. Bridge to Hope Support Group is an Outreach Program of the Passavant Hospital Foundation and as such is a support organization only and does not offer medical or psychological advice. Meets weekly on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Conference Room #1, Passavant Hospital Foundation Conference Center, Cumberland Woods Village, 700 Cumberland Woods Dr., Allison Park. Beyond Bridge to Hope Support Group
Beyond Bridge to Hope is a monthly Bereavement Support Group for adult family members who have experienced the death of a loved one due to drug or alcohol abuse. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month, from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Passavant Hospital Foundation Conference Center in McCandless Township. They are facilitated by a certified grief counselor, whose specialty has been in the area of bereavement for the past 24 years, Susan Wesner, RN, MSN, CS, a psychiatric clinical nurse specialist at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC. The meetings are free of charge. Beyond Bridge to Hope Bereavement Support Group is an Outreach Program of the Passavant Hospital Foundation and as such is a support organization only and does not offer medical or psychological advice. The Good Grief Center for Bereavement Support offers support groups for anyone having trouble coping with the death of a loved one. General groups are from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on first and third Wednesdays; and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on second and fourth Thursdays. A "Daughters without Mothers" support group meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month. The Good Grief Center, a nonprofit organization located at 2717 Murray Ave. in Squirrel Hill, serves all ages and is a division of Ursuline Senior Services. Teal Hearts Network
The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOOC), Pittsburgh Chapter, and the Cancer Caring Center have teamed up to offer “Teal Hearts Network” at the Cancer Caring Center’s Bloomfield Headquarters. Mary Urban will lead the group, which will offer survivors the opportunity to share common concerns and experiences. Meetings will be held on the third Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:00. Free Bariatric Surgery Information Seminar
Christopher J. Myers, MD, minimally invasive bariatric and general surgeon with the UPMC Horizon Bariatric Surgery Center, will offer a free bariatric surgery information seminar at UPMC-Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Associates. Dr. Myers will continue to hold information seminars at the Franklin office the second Monday of every month. Healthy Family Home Training Camp
The Allegheny YMCA, the Wilmerding YMCA and the Homewood Brushton YMCA is offering The Healthy Family Home Training Camp. This 12-week program helps families prevent obesity by engaging them in activities that support a healthy lifestyle. Incentives like family memberships are offered to participants at no cost.
