UPMC and Achieva Partner to Help Individuals with Disabilities Join the UPMC Workforce
UPMC and Achieva are partnering to help qualified candidates with disabilities develop long and meaningful careers with UPMC. “As our country commemorates the 30th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), we’re excited about this partnership, which pairs the hiring needs of UPMC with qualified, top talent,” said John Galley, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, UPMC. “We value the significant contributions that workers with disabilities bring to our inclusive environment at UPMC.”
An Achieva inclusion liaison, embedded into UPMC’s departments of talent acquisition and employee relations, helps people with disabilities apply for positions and provides services necessary for candidates to sustain their employment with UPMC. The liaison also brings expertise in disability services to uncover opportunities for improving hiring processes; developing training materials; coordinating assistive technology and accommodations; and other relevant workforce services.
“The ADA has removed barriers and opened doors for individuals with disabilities, paving the way for our partnership with UPMC,” said Steve Suroviec, president and CEO of Achieva. “By working together, we prioritize the talent needs of UPMC and work with their existing human resources team to identify and onboard qualified talent and serve as a key point of contact for disability-related hiring.”
