Pittsburgh Psychiatrist Publishes Book that is 60 Years in the Making
“Reflections on Life, Marriage, and Anger” Is a Product of a Lifetime of Caring for Patients

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Lester J. Bolanovich, MD, who has been a psychiatrist in Pittsburgh for more than 60 years, recently published a book titled, Reflections on Life, Marriage, and Anger, a book that draws on case studies from his patients’ experiences and outcomes.

“This book portrays certain ways of looking at interpersonal relationships that aren’t talked about or written about enough,” said Dr. Bolanovich. “Every person has inborn characteristics that aren’t always recognized that can complicate our relationships with our spouses, parents, siblings, co-workers, and friends. If these characteristics are not addressed, they can contribute to feelings of anger, depression, and helplessness that can cause conflicts that aren’t easily resolved.

Dr. Bolanovich has tested his hypotheses over the course of his six decades in practice. Part two of the book features case studies from actual patients that he draws on to illustrate his theories. To protect his patients’ privacy and confidentiality, no names are used and any details that might reveal identities have been changed.

Dr. Bolanovich graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1951 and served a 12-month general rotating internship at St. Francis General Hospital in Pittsburgh, which at that time had about 300 beds dedicated to the treatment of psychiatric patients. At the conclusion of his internship, he completed a two-year psychiatric residency at St. Francis. He started his third year of psychiatric residency at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC), but that third year was interrupted by a two-year stint in the U.S. Navy, where he treated both inpatient and outpatient service members and their families at Camp LeJeune in North Carolina. After completion of his service, he returned to WPIC and completed the third year of his psychiatric residency. Following the completion of his residency, he began a general psychiatric practice. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Institute Training Program, where he also taught some classes. He is certified by the American Psychoanalytic Association and the American Board of Psychoanalysis. He continues to see patients in his office. Dr. Bolanovich’s book is available on Amazon.
