Family Hospice to Open Second Inpatient Unit Family Hospice and Palliative Care recently hosted an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of its second inpatient unit in Allegheny County. The Center for Compassionate Care Canterbury – located on the second floor of Canterbury Place, a UPMC Senior Community in Lawrenceville – has 14 home-like private patient rooms and offers round-the-clock inpatient hospice care. The new inpatient unit is modeled after Family Hospice's original inpatient facility, The Center for Compassionate Care, which opened in Mt. Lebanon in 2008. The Center for Compassionate Care Canterbury will operate under Family Hospice's license and will offer a full-time Family Hospice staff, including a palliative care certified physician, nurses, social work and spiritual care. In addition to private patient rooms, The Center for Compassionate Care Canterbury also features a family room, kitchen area, and picturesque views of the City of Pittsburgh. Families will have access to Canterbury Place's chapel and free parking garage. As with The Center for Compassionate Care in Mt. Lebanon, the new inpatient unit features 24/7 visitation and family pets are welcome. |
