accessAbilities to Host Parent Workshops on Healthy Play and Language Development
Infants and toddlers learn and develop at a rapid rate. As a parent or caregiver, there are simple ways to help a child grow up to be his or her very best. accessAbilities, a leading nonprofit specializing in early childhood development, is here to help guide families through a parent workshop series, made possible through a grant from the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital (ACMH) Medical Staff Fund, an affiliate of the ACMH Foundation.
On September 15, the workshop will focus on healthy play, understanding and reinforcing the motor development of infants and toddlers. Topics include gross and fine motor skill development, the importance of play and movement, choosing age appropriate toys and activities, and how to effectively incorporate play into a child’s life.
The October 6, workshop will focus on language and literacy development. Participants will learn the stages of language development, how to choose books for young children, and how to encourage language and learning.
All workshops will be held at the Appleby Manor Presbyterian Church in Ford City, PA at 5:30 p.m. Free child care and refreshments will be available. For more information visit www.accessAbilities.org/parentworkshops.asp. To reserve your seat, contact Amanda Newcomer at (724) 832-8272, ext. 1021.
