Ortho1Call: One Step to Quality Orthopedic Care

Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Jefferson Hills, south of Pittsburgh, offers patients a service aimed at taking the hassle out of navigating the often complicated process of obtaining musculoskeletal care. Ortho1Call is designed to expedite and coordinate care for patients with acute musculoskeletal injuries who can't wait weeks or even months to consult with a specialist for an evaluation of pain or injury to bones, joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles. The service for orthopedic patients takes only one step. When a patient calls (412) 469-7711, the goal of the trained medical staff member who takes the call is to arrange an appointment with a medical provider for evaluation of pain or injury to bones, joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles – within the next business day. Most insurances are accepted.

For those who require surgery, Jefferson Regional offers new operating rooms, state-of-the-art technology and often minimally invasive techniques to speed patients' recovery. Edwin Hornfeck Jr. of Charleroi spent the past five years suffering with increasing knee pain – until he said he couldn't take it anymore. He made a phone call to Jefferson Regional's Ortho1 Call and he was soon on his way to welcomed relief.

"They do all of the research for you," Hornfeck said. "I was referred to the right doctor. It was just what I needed." Since his knee replacement surgery at Jefferson Regional, he has a new outlook on life. Instead of looking forward to more joint pain, he can look forward to celebrating spring with a trout fishing and camping trip with his two stepsons.

Jefferson Regional provides exceptional care by board-certified physicians. The Joint Care Center, a division of the Orthopedic Institute, earned the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission and has Joint Commission Certification for Total Hip and Knee Replacement.

The Joint Care Center is designated a Highmark Blue Distinction Center® for Knee and Hip Replacement. Jefferson Regional Medical Center is designated an Aetna Institutes of Quality® (IOQ) for Total Joint Replacement and Spine Surgery.
