2019 Cupids Chase Set for February 9
5K Event Benefits Local Community Options Programs

Once again, western Pennsylvania runners are invited to celebrate Valentine’s Day by giving their heart—and their legs—to help others by participating in the annual Cupid’s Chase to support Community Options, Inc., an organization that provides residential and employment support services to individuals with disabilities.

The 2019 version of Cupid’s Chase will be held February 9, 2019, again on Pittsburgh’s North Shore. The event, open to runners, walkers and rollers (baby strollers, wheelchairs), features trophies, raffle prizes and the signature long sleeve tee shirts—in “Available” and “Unavailable” versions depending on the relationship situation of each runner.

“Our local Cupid’s Chase continues to grow in interest and attendance,” said Bridget Haney, Community Options Regional Director. “Many of our participants return each year and tell us it’s a fun event and a great way to begin their running regimen for the new year.

“Regardless of weather—and we’ve seen snow, cold and even an occasional relatively warm spell—our participants and volunteers show up in the true spirit of Valentine’s Day, where we spread our region’s love to those in need.”

The Pittsburgh version of Cupid’s Chase is held in conjunction with similar events sponsored nationally by 40 Community Options offices across 11 states. According to Race Committee Chair Chuck Reese, the Pittsburgh office always finished at or near the top in participants and sponsors.

“Pittsburgh has a reputation for being a City of Champions,” said Mr. Reese. “That certainly holds true with our race. The support we get grows year after year.”

Last year’s Cupid’s Chase attracted more than participants and raised over $25,000 to support local Community Options programs and services.
