Fall Continuing Education Programs Announced at Baptist Homes


Baptist Homes Society announced its Continuing Education Series for the Fall of 2017. This series of valuable, free, educational two-credit Continuing Education activities for social workers and registered nurses are offered at Baptist Homes Society's two locations and include dinner. If you are interested in a tour of either Providence Point or Baptist Homes prior to the start of the program, please request that option when you RSVP.

The four classes this fall are:

Registration 4:00 PM / Presentation 4:30 to 6:30 PM
Designed as a resource for caregivers, you will learn the reasons and discover tips and techniques to 'help yourself first' so that you have the capability to be the best care provider possible.

The Doctor-Driven Drug Epidemic presented by Dr. Rebecca Plute, MD
Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Baptist Homes, 489 Castle Shannon Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15234

In this session, we'll identify drugs with the high potential for addiction, discuss risk factors and learn about ways to avoid problems, identify risk factors and help those who have become addicted.

Support for Those Living in a Dementia Care Community, presented by Rachael Wonderlin, MS Gerentology and author

Rachael will cover topics from her book, "When Someone You Know is Living in a Dementia Care Community" which was published by Johns Hopkins University as a companion piece for the acclaimed book "the 36-Hour Day."

Cerebellar Imbalances and the Resultant Impact on Cognitive and Emotional Processing presented by Jonas E. Marry, DC
Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Providence Point, 500 Providence Point Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15243
Registration 4:00 PM / Presentation 4:30 to 6:30 PM

This overview, will explore the neural pathways and how they affect health including cognitive and emotional processing. Discussion will include approaches to therapy such as functional neurology, therapy and overlapping care.
