Be Kind
By Kevin R. Bean

As I sit here writing, the sure signs of fall are starting to appear.  Leaves are peeking their first blush, preparing to show us the beauty and joy in letting go.  Mums are popping up along roadside stands, and people are making plans to pick apples and enjoy the bounty of the harvest season.

It is a time of year where families start baking and canning, preparing comfort foods, and enjoying quiet nights together around a fire.

During this season, I always like to take a moment to remind people to think of those who may not be blessed with family.  Those who may be struggling with loneliness, and wishing that they could share in these seasonal delights.

So, perhaps take a moment to stop and have a cup of coffee with your neighbor who may have lost a loved one in the past year.  Check in with someone who may be having difficulty making it to the store to see if you can pick them up something while you’re there, or maybe even bring them over some home baked foods.  You’ll never know when a moment of kindness could save someone’s life.

Please be the light you wish to see in the world.

I know that I am never so blessed as when I get to spend time in service to others and never so full as when I am able to give.  There is such a need for kindness in our world.

So, from our Harmon House family to yours, may you have a blessed harvest season.
